USB stands for "Universal Serial Bus", and the Chinese name is Universal Serial Bus. This is a new interface technology that has gradually been widely used in the PC field in recent years. The USB connector has the characteristics of faster transmission speed, support for hot plugging and connection of multiple devices.

There are three types of USB connectors: USB1.1 and USB2.0, usb3.0. Theoretically, the transmission speed of USB1.1 can reach 12Mbps/sec, while USB2.0 can reach the speed of 480Mbps/sec, and it can be backward compatible with USB1.1. Now, it has been widely used in information communication products such as personal computers and mobile devices, and expanded to other related fields such as photographic equipment, digital televisions (set-top boxes), and game consoles.


USB is an indispensable interface for computer external connection. It can be called a universal interface. It is divided into Type A, Type B and Type C. Usually, it is Type A. The USB connector of the mobile phone is now basically divided into the following three types: Micro USB interface; USB Type C interface; Lightning interface.


According to the latest forecast by the market research organization Omdia, more than half of the smartphones shipped in 2020 will have a USB-C port. In 2022, more than half of the products shipped in the computing and transportation sectors will have at least one USB-C port.


As a high-speed serial bus, the USB bus has successfully replaced the common serial and parallel communication standards since its introduction, and has become one of the standard expansion interfaces and necessary interfaces for a large number of computers and smart devices in the 21st century. 


It has now been developed to USB 3.2 version. In terms of technical performance, its extremely high transmission speed can meet the application environment requirements of high-speed data transmission, and the bus also has simple power supply (bus-powered), convenient installation and configuration (support plug-and-play and hot plug), and expansion Simple ports (up to 127 peripherals can be expanded through a hub), diversified transmission methods (4 transmission modes), and good compatibility (downward compatibility after product upgrades).


Furthermore, with the popularization of various electronic devices, information transmission between devices has become more and more frequent, but various USB connectors, video transmission lines, and various power cord sockets that are not common to each other have brought a lot of inconvenience. 


USB connector requirements are becoming more and more abundant, and it is possible to have multiple uses in one line. Some foreign media broke the news that from 2021, Apple’s new iPhones and iPads will use USB Type-C connectors (hereinafter referred to as "USB-C") . Therefore, it is valued by major manufacturers and is likely to become a unified interface standard in the future.
